Project Description:
The Orangewood Resource Center (??ORC?) at the Foundation serves as a drop-in center young adults working on independent living after the foster system. The ORC provides them with some basic emergency supplies including food and personal hygiene items, and professional clothing. Additionally, youth receive resources and support on employment, housing, careers and education. Volunteers are needed to help keep the emergency supplies stocked! Holding a supply drive within your office helps provide these necessities to the youth, but also helps raise awareness within the community about the needs and challenges of emancipating foster youth in Orange County. Ideas ways you can involve your office include: - Hold a friendly competition between offices or departments by seeing who can collect the most items. - Include customers and vendors by letting them know how they can help. - Offer individuals the option of donating gift cards or money rather than actual items. - End the drive with a packing party to create care kits with special messages of encouragement.
